Week 5: 82 Touchdowns, 2 ATDs

CIN@MIA: Good enough?

Miami’s Ollie Gordon finds himself stuck in a goal line scrum, so he elects to reach the ball overhead and, for a moment, crack the end zone’s airspace. This, according to existing rule book standards, is considered worthy of six points. Looks pretty lame to us.

Inside this human vortex, the Bengals’ defense whacks the ball out of Gordon’s hands and Cincinnati linebacker Oren Burks recovers the loose ball. Doesn’t matter. That split-second the ball spent in the end zone’s ether terminates the play. Gordon, of course, never touches the end zone.

In 2026, according to Google Gemini, the league-wide average resale ticket price for an NFL game is $397. Is this the kind of thrilling play fans are paying big bucks to see? Hocus Bogus Rating: 4.5

AZ@LAR: Another no-touch touchdown

Like Ollie Gordon in the previously referenced play, the Rams’ Blake Corum never contacts the end zone, only breaking the Great Invisible Plane before landing on top of a defender. Like Gordon, Corum is awarded six points. Seems generous to us. Rating: 3
