16 Games, Sept. 16/19/20, 2021
Week 2: 63 touchdowns, 0 ATDs
How it should be: No-doubt touchdowns
Hurrah! Not a single ATD was spotted during Week 2.
Which leads us to speculate: How would football look if our proposed rule — ball carriers must contact the end zone in order to earn a touchdown — was enacted?
This assortment of plays, a brief sampler of legit touchdowns scored during the 2021 season, demonstrate how quickly ball carriers could adapt to the new rule, where they would target the physical end zone, not its airspace or an out-of-bounds pylon, as their destination.
First, from Week 6, DAL@NE, New England’s Rhamondre Stevenson shows how it could be and should be done. Leave no doubt!
